SNS supports PhD courses relevant to forest research through the Nordic Forestry, Veterinary and Agricultural University Network NOVA.

SNS collaborates with EFINORD, the North-European Regional Office, which is an integral part of the European Forest Institute (EFI). EFINORD was established in 2010 and is located in Umeå, Northern Sweden. SNS and EFINORD co-operate on joint projects and networking.

In the Baltic Sea Region, forestry is important to the economy and sustainable development. Keeping these sectors profitable and competitive is a key factor in securing the future sustainable development of the region. SNS is strongly involved in the activities to strengthen the forest research cooperation in the region. Activities are coordinated via the EFINORD flagship ‘Sustainable Forest Management in the Baltic Sea Region – EFINORD’. The EFINORD flagship offers a voluntary based umbrella for forest and sustainable forest management related activities in the Baltic Sea Strategy. Read more here.

This brochure ‘Forest Research in the North‘, which was published in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Scandinavian Journal of Forest research in 2010, shows a condensed summary of the main organisations performing research and development in the Nordic region.
